Aqua Biologics Inc. is a sustainable technology company whose founders have over 50 years applied experience in the aquaculture industry with system design, operations and production. The Aqua-Sphere® provides the ideal solution to any water-based fish farming application. Although closed, land-based tank systems exist today, the Aqua-Sphere® remains the only proven, sustainable water-based fish production system in operation.
The Aqua-Sphere® patent-pending design provides the environmentally sustainability necessary to expand the fish farming industry into areas that currently are not available for use. The provincial government of British Columbia, Canada has endorsed closed containment systems such as the Aqua-Sphere®, and would like to convert all of its fish farms to such a system within the next five years.
The Aqua-Sphere® has global applications in warm, cold, fresh and salt water. The system’s eco-friendly, low energy consumption design allows it to be used in any part of the world.
The Aqua-Sphere® technology captures waste created during production and uses that waste to create by-products, such as hydroponic crops, algae for bio fuels and seaweeds, through a process known as Bioponics™. Nothing goes to waste in the production cycle and the farmer produces 3 revenue generating crops versus 1 in conventional farming. This capability dramatically reduces the typical business risks of aquaculture/agriculture.
The Aqua-Sphere® can be used as both a grow-out production system as well as a nursery, solving the existing problem of inland operations in freshwater lakes. This technology is ideally suited to solve the pollution and disease problems currently restricting expansion or operation of aquaculture in Chile and Canada, two of the largest coldwater production areas in the world.
In Summary, we all need fresh sustainable seafood for our health and development, yet our wild fisheries can no longer supply our needs. If we have a chance to fulfill the 80 billion pound per year predicted shortage over the next 20 years, we must rely upon advanced eco-friendly technologies to open up vast areas of the globe to clean, sustainable fish farming. We must stop allowing toxic wastes from open net pin systems to pollute and compromise our wild eco-systems. Most importantly, we must provide seafood that the consumer can rely upon to be free of chemicals and toxins. In order to do this, fish farmers need reliable, nonpolluting, low energy systems that reduce risk by securing and protecting their crops and provide them with multiple revenue streams to increase their profitability and sustainability in the market.
