IBIS Partners L3C Value Proposition

Because we firmly believe in giving back to the global communities we serve, we have created the IBIS Partners L3C Social Venture Intermediary. IBIS Partners L3C is engaged in community development using an emerging hybrid business model for social enterprises entitled the low-profit limited liability company (L3C). This version of the LLC is a recent legislative offering in several states designed to enable for-profit social enterprises to accomplish a multiple bottom-line strategy that can attract program related investments from private foundations.

The great potential for this “Fourth Sector” business model is the flexibility to operate as a for-profit and accomplish the social mission of a non-profit and tax exempt organization by generating innovative sources of financing and revenue. This is particularly critical as looming federal and state budget deficits will result in a major decline in social funding

What We Offer

As a “Social Venture Intermediary” we are able to provide non-profit and community development agencies a scalable social enterprise business model. As indicated in our business model, IBIS Partners L3C forms strategic partnerships with private and public agencies to create collaborative social ventures.

Our subsidiaries include:

The IBIS Institute for Change provides intellectual capital, research, strategic planning, methodology and consulting.
The IBIS Community Development Corporation provides a conduit for government grants to facilitate a variety of services including financing through a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Brown Field mitigation, Energy Audits, as well as Low-income housing projects and 501(c)(2) land trust projects.
The IBIS Foundation facilitates the philanthropic activities of the organization.

IBIS Partners LLC private equity firm brings resources to form these partnerships with an intellectual property portfolio and technical expertise in the following industries: Renewal Energy, Aquaculture, Information Technology, Bio-technology and Education.

How We Deliver

Nationally foundations only fund 20% of the potential PRI goals for their collective $43 billion annual distribution. This is primarily due to the transaction cost associated with finding quality investments that don’t jeopardize their charitable foundation status with the IRS.

To overcome this barrier IBIS Partners L3C provides the due diligence, transaction cost efficiencies, and deal flow management services that reduce risk and improve market returns for social ventures. IBIS Partners L3C focuses on several industries to ensure a core competence that adds value to foundations seeking to increase their program related investments. By focusing on key industries we provide a level of technical assistance and consultancy that have been the hallmark of our success in our private equity projects.

Benefits to the Community

By partnering with IBIS Partner L3C communities will be able leverage their public and private sector funding with private foundation PRIs and private equity capital to that deliver sustainable community development and social well-being. We provide scalable and replicable turn key projects through innovative public-private partnerships as an agent for social transformation and community development throughout the United State as well our targeted global markets.
