Spencer Harris serves as Chief Financial Officer of IBIS Partners and a Director of the IBIS Social Venture. Mr. Harris brings more than 42 years of experience in financial accounting, valuation, real estate development and disposition. Harris has partnered with Daniel on real estate related transactions for over 20 years. Since 1992 his practice has primarily dealt with real estate development transactions throughout the United States, Mexico, South and Central America. This has included the coordinated efforts of business plan development, operational planning, budgeting, contingencies, tax planning and preparation.
From 1978 to 1992, Harris was the Managing Partner in the accounting firm of Harris, Calhoun & Beyer in San Diego, California. Concurrently, he served as Treasurer of the US Financial Liquidation Trust Company. Working closely with renowned law firms Fried Frank and O’Melveny & Meyers he oversaw the accounting and tax matters related to the liquidation of over $120 Million of real estate assets, as well as a title company and a mortgage company.
Harris started his career in the Los Angeles office of Kenneth Leventhal & Company in 1968. Leventhal, now part of Ernst & Young, was one of the United States largest CPA firms specializing in real estate development transactions. He concentrated on auditing, tax preparation and systems design work for various real estate entities. He also worked on the high profile mergers, such as Singer and CBS.
Harris received his Masters from Golden Gate University in Taxation and his Bachelor of Science from California State University at Los Angeles in Business Administration. He is also a past Chapter President of BETA ALHPA PSI (National Accounting Fraternity).
