Tony R. McCray, Jr. is the Director of Economic Development of IBIS Partners. Mr. McCray is a creative community economic development specialist that brings over 37 years experience in public-private sector partnerships. He is a consensus builder whose expertise embraces the pure essence of business networking to connect the dots of multiple relationships and organizations. Throughout his illustrious career he has secured millions of dollars in Local, State and Federal grants for various projects and he has many friends from Tallahassee to Capitol Hill.

 

Mr. McCray has founded and directed several community development corporations (CDC's) in Florida, a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded community design center and two State of Florida community development programs under Governor Graham. He has also served as Director of two programs funded by the US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency - the National Center for Entrepreneurial Development (NEDC) at the Florida A&M School of Business and the West Palm Beach Minority Business Development Center. His rural development experience includes the Directorship of the Comprehensive Community Initiative (CCI) program for the Palm Beach Community Foundation which evolved into the Glades Community Development Corporation.

 

A tireless community organizer, Mr. McCray has been directly involved in several Community Redevelopment Agencies throughout the State of Florida. He assisted in the design and adoption of Community Benefit elements into the Maritime Park Development Agreement for a mixed-use 30 acre development on Pensacola's waterfront. He recently served as the Special Projects Director for Rebuild Northwest Florida following Hurricane Ivan's devastation of Pensacola. Following the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast he also assisted in the promotion and organizing of the Gulf Coast Tri-State Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors which served as the vehicle to design, promote, and coordinate the Gulf Coast Regional Equity to Achieve Prosperity (REAP) Summits in 2007 and 2011. Educated at Tuskegee Institute, McCray graduated in 1972, with a B.S. Degree in History. He is also a Vietnam era veteran having served as a 1st Lieutenant Operations Officer in the United States Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
